The Panama City Symphony opens its 30th Anniversary Season with ‘Symphony and Soul,’ a concert showcasing American music’s diversity, depth, and soul. From Florence Price’s evocative Dances in the Canebrakes and Grofé’s majestic Mississippi Suite, to Gershwin’s iconic symphonic suite from Porgy and Bess, this evening promises an unforgettable journey through America’s musical landscape. Celebrate this landmark occasion with us, where each note will resonate with history and herald a future of continued musical excellence.

Philip Lima, baritone

Described as a “vibrant baritone and a commanding presence” Philip Lima has sung leading operatic roles in Germany and for regional American opera companies in repertoire ranging from traditional favorites to important works of modern masters, including new operas incorporating jazz and rock music.

He has appeared numerous times as concert soloist with the renowned Boston Pops, and with dozens of leading ensembles across the United States and in Italy, Korea, and Ukraine in traditional choral masterpieces and important modern concert works, including Lee Hoiby’s majestic setting of the “I Have a Dream” speech of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
