GUEST VIOLINIST, Joshua Thai

Featured as guest soloist for the With love, Tchaikovsky concert, violinist Joshua Thai earned his appearance on stage as the first-place winner in Panama City Symphony’s 2026 Emerging Artist Competition (College Division), where he captivated judges with Korngold’s Violin Concerto in D Major.

A native of Tucson, Arizona, Joshua began studying violin at age seven and currently studies under Dr. Katherine McLin at Arizona State University. He made his solo orchestral debut at age 11 with the Arizona Symphonic Winds and has since performed as a featured soloist with ensembles across the country, including the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Rocky Ridge Festival Orchestra, and the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra.

Joshua’s competitive success includes top honors at the AZMusicFest Chamber Music Competition, RRMC Concerto Competition, COT Youth Concerto Competition, SASO Dorothy Vanek Youth Concerto Competition, and the TPYO Scholarship Competition. Notably, after securing first place in the inaugural Progressive Musicians Competition, he was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York City.

A seasoned leader and chamber musician, Joshua has served as concertmaster for the Brevard Sinfonia, ASU Symphony, Tucson Youth Symphony, and the RRMC Festival Orchestra. His studies have been supported by scholarships to prestigious summer institutes, including the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, Heifetz Institute PEG, Hilton Head Chamber Music Institute, Southwest String Quartet Workshop, and Rocky Ridge Music Camp. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree at ASU, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in Violin Performance.
