PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION & BRUCH VIOLIN CONCERTO

Celebrate the climax of our 30th anniversary season with works by Bernstein, Bruch, and Mussorgsky. Three Dance Episodes from ‘On the Town’ capture the spirit of New York City, while Bruch’s evocative Violin Concerto No. 1 showcases guest violinist Ànnika Jenkins’ artistry and virtuosity. After the intermission, the season culminates with Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition,’ a masterpiece that brings paintings to life with each note. This finale concert promises a fitting tribute to three decades of musical excellence! This concerto weaves brooding introspection with fiery passages, highlighting the cello’s expressive capabilities. The program concludes with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9, juxtaposing a seemingly light facade against complex undercurrents. HOLIDAY BY THE BAY (with The Panama City Symphony Adult and Children’s Chorus and Bay Area Choral Society)

Under the baton of Maestro Sergey Bogza, the Holiday by the Bay concert proudly presents a fusion of a full symphony orchestra with the vibrant voices of our newly formed children’s and adult choirs. This combination enhances the emotional depth of the performance, offering an immersive experience that showcases the unique strengths of both instrumental and vocal music. This event not only highlights the diverse talents of our performers but also unites the community in a festive and unforgettable celebration of the season.

Panama City Symphony is pleased to collaborate with the Bay Area Choral Society (BACS), for this concert. Founded in 1989, BACS performs two concerts each season in Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. Under the direction of Dana Langford since 2016, the group was invited to sing in Carnegie Hall in December 2024. “We are excited to have this opportunity to collaborate with the Panama City Symphony!”

Chaplin Comes Alive with the Symphony! The Panama City Symphony commemorates 100 years of Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush with a spectacular live score performance at the Barbara W. Nelson Fine Arts Center. Join us as maestro Sergey Bogza leads the orchestra in bringing the silent screen to vibrant life, syncing Chaplin’s comedic genius with dynamic orchestral sound. Watch as The Little Tramp’s quest for gold in Alaska unfolds in a series of delightful mishaps and adventures. Patrons are encouraged to dress in black & white in honor of Chaplin’s style and era. The Symphony will be providing Chaplin-related props for fun photo opportunities!
